  Yep!! And that’s why i won’t work with kiddos. The parents bring the child, “identified patient” to us wanting the therapist to ” fix ” him or her. But some parents themselves are in no way willing to change… Frustrating indeed.

  I hear you. I’ll work with kids only if the parents are involved. The thing I try to remember (though not always successfuly) is that the parents are kids inside too. And it’s rare that the problems that bring families into therapy aren’t in some way echoes of what happened to the parents when they were young. So I try to show them how what’s happening now is only the latest act in a long-running play.
