We try to control life because

x

*

“Prisoner, tell me, who was it

that wrought this unbreakable

chain?”

“It was I,” said the prisoner,

“who forged this chain very

carefully.

I thought my invincible power

would hold the world captive

leaving me in a freedom

undisturbed.

Thus night and day I worked

at the chain with huge fires

and cruel hard strokes.

When at last the work was

done and the links were

complete and unbreakable,

I found that it held me

in its grip.”

I have found an example of this recently when I was sick. I felt overwhelmed with all the ‘stuff’ I was unable to do, in the house. I felt the need to control even though life had other plans and I initially tried to wrestle. Life won. I felt frightened of being out of control (as in unable to keep house jobs done).
Luckily I remembered your money trap philosophy and let go by allowing the fear to come and yes, go. Not totally, will happen again but it was a reminder that Sh*te happens and I am not God!
    Thanks for your post Steve
