Good question.
You think I’m stuck.
Part of me thinks I’m stuck.
But another part doesn’t feel stuck,
It feels protected.
Protected from change.
I’ve had bad experiences with change.
So I decided early on that change was dangerous.
That it’s safer to cling to the familiar.
So that’s what I’m doing.
Despite all the good reasons not to.
Despite the part of me that wants
to heal and grow.
And if I remember correctly, that
never happens because of pressure.
Not pressure from outside.
Nor pressure I put on myself.
It comes from letting me feel
what I feel and be where I am,
for as long as I need to.
It comes from acceptance,
not labels like stuck.
And when it gets accepted,
the scared part of me can relax,
take a breath,
and even consider why
change might be a good thing.
